Reduce evaporation and increase heat retention with a customised swimming pool cover from NCS.
Australia’s warm climate can cause uncovered outdoor pools to lose up to 55,000 litres of water a year through evaporation. When water evaporates, so too do expensive pool chemicals and salts.
Choosing a properly fitted solar cover from NCS Pool Heating creates a physical barrier that can prevent up to 97% of evaporation, equating to thousands of litres of water and hundreds of dollars worth of pool care products every year.
Pool covers not only significantly reduce evaporation, but they are also one of the most economical pool heating options available.
Made from a thick, rounded bubble material, solar pool covers are inexpensive to purchase and cost nothing to operate. When placed over the surface of your pool, a custom thermal cover creates a barrier between the water and the outside environment. By absorbing sunlight, your cover then transfers and traps this heat in your pool area, increasing the temperature by as much as 8°C.
If you’re investing in creating the ideal outdoor oasis and have installed either solar panels, an inverter heat pump or gas heater, a pool cover is a great addition to create an even more energy-efficient system.
NCS can provide a free measure and quote Australian-wide – no matter your location.
NCS covers are customised locally in our Central Coast workshop.
Say goodbye to cheap pool blankets that fall apart after six months. NCS pool covers are made from the highest quality materials and have been engineered to endure Australia’s harsh environment and weather conditions.
Our covers are made from a superior micron collector, complete with ultraviolet inhibitors, a thicker bubble, outstanding durability and superior buoyancy. Designed to stay in shape, NCS covers are guaranteed to protect your pool for up to 10 years.
Suitable for both domestic and commercial use, our covers are UV stabilised and available in 400 or 500-micron thickness. Our team can also customise your cover to fit any size or shape of indoor and outdoor pool or spa.
Purchase with confidence knowing that your NCS thermal pool cover is Climate Care Certified and meets the stringent requirements of the SPASA Pool Cover Certification Guidelines.
A pool cover serves multiple purposes. They help reduce water evaporation, retain heat and prevent debris from entering your pool. Additionally, they can save on energy costs by reducing the need for heating and chemical treatments.
Yes, they can. Solar pool covers may help increase your pool’s water temperature by approximately 6 – 8ºC over the period of a week. The cover’s material and air bubbles create a greenhouse effect, trapping and retaining the sun’s heat within the pool water. This heat retention helps to raise the water temperature, making the pool more comfortable and extending your swimming season. When used alongside other pool heating methods, such as a pool heat pump, the overall heating system can work more efficiently, resulting in significant energy savings and reduced operating costs.
An NCS pool cover can be customised to fit most pool shapes and sizes. Whether you have an in-ground, above-ground or lap pool, we can customise a cover to suit your requirements.
Absolutely. By keeping out leaves, debris and insects, a pool cover can save you time cleaning your pool and needing fewer chemicals to maintain water quality.
It’s important to frequently remove leaves, dirt and other debris from the cover’s surface. Use a soft brush, leaf blower or pool skimmer to gently sweep away any accumulated debris. This prevents the litter from decomposing on the cover and potentially causing stains or damage.
Periodically clean your cover with mild soap and water. Using a diluted and non-abrasive soap in a bucket of water with a soft sponge or cloth, wipe down the cover’s surface to help remove any dirt or residue. Always avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the cover’s material and compromise its integrity.
It’s also important to properly store your cover when not in use. If you have a pool roller system, roll the cover neatly onto the roller. For those without a roller, fold the cover carefully and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid leaving the cover exposed to the sun for extended periods, as the heat can cause damage over time.
Regularly inspect your cover for signs of wear and tear, such as rips or fraying edges. Address any issues promptly to prevent them from worsening.
There are a number of ways to help optimise the benefits and prolong the life of your NCS solar pool cover. Keep the chlorine level in your pool within the recommended range of 2 to 2.5ppm. Avoid exceeding 3ppm, as higher chlorine levels can have corrosive effects on the cover.
Run your pool filter and pool pump during the hottest part of the day, typically from 10 am to 4 pm. Having the filter running during these hours with the cover on helps to reduce chlorine evaporation, as the gas is trapped by the surface of the cover, and allows the chlorine to circulate and sanitise the water more effectively. This reduced chlorine evaporation may lead to higher chlorine concentrations in the water. To prevent excessive chlorine build-up, make sure to reduce your chlorine input by around 50%.
Running the filter during hot hours also helps prevent hotspots in the pool. The sun’s heat primarily penetrates the top layer of the water, creating an uneven temperature distribution. Proper filtration helps evenly disperse the heat and chlorine throughout the pool, preventing damage to the cover from localised high temperatures and chlorine concentrations.
When it comes to ease of removal and prolonging the life of your custom swimming pool cover, a quality pool roller can make all the difference.
NCS Pool Heating supplies a large range of domestic and commercial pool rollers, including stationary, mobile, motorised, under-bench and hidden options.
